For years now i've been happily sanding floors of all types and species, One thing that i've seen a lot of and is especially present in softwood floorboards in the UK is bored out tunnels left by the Dreaded Woodworm, mostly the wood is only slightly decayed and is usually structurally sound enough to sand and varnish, plus lots of people seem to love the rustic look it gives to often very old boards.

Closing your curtains last thing at night will prevent the powerful UV rays from the early morning sun damaging your wood floor.

Gone are the days of corners taking ages to do, I use a Bosch Nose sander, I have a fein and Festool detail sander, but rarely use those nowadays, these days i favour the nose sander and or my trusty Tungsten scraper!
